Search Instructions

Each image is catalogued in our database. The information stored in the database is organized into records and fields. Each record is an image and each field contains a specific category of information; the image caption, keywords, the creator, image orientation, film size, serial number, etc. Our search engine uses these fields to find the image(s) you’re looking for.

Using keywords:
Each image is given numerous, discriptive keywords. Use as many keywords as you like but a simple search with few keywords is effective.Try using conceptual keywords as well, "strength".

Choose "match all keywords" to search for image records containing all of the keywords or "match any keyword" to find images that contain any of the keywords.

Choose "any photographer" or a specific photographer.

Choose "any film size" or a specific film size.

Choose "any orientation" or a specific orientation.

Search Results page(s):
Choose the number of images you wish to download per page.(8,16,32,64)

Searching by Serial Number:
If you know the serial number of an image you can search for it using this field.
For color images choose the option for color (upper right corner) and enter the number (eg. 635).
For black and white images choose the option for black and white (upper right corner) and insert "BW" and a hyphen before the number (eg. BW-420).
